Ballyglunin Railway Station

Restoration of Ballygluinin Railway Station.

Managing Director of Loughwood Contracting Ltd., Patrick Connolly is pictured below with committee members during the restoration works at the infamous and historic Ballygluinin Railway Station.
We were very proud to be involved in the restoration of Ballygluinin Railway Station, which dates back to 1860.

The opening scene of John Ford’s classic 1952 film The Quiet Man, was filmed at the train station at Ballyglunin, Co Galway. The station was named Castletown station in the film and is visited by thousands of people every year.
In need of some enhancement, a fantastic local committee got together and by various fundraising initiatives have made remarkable progress in returning the station to its former glory.
We wish all involved every success in the future.

Patrick is also pictured with his son Luke on a visit to the station.
